Glycymeris idoneus was named by Conrad (1833) [m. kosnik taxon no: 6707]. Its type locality is ADa-2 Rep 2, which is in a Paleocene/Paleocene shallow subtidal sandstone in the Nanafalia Formation of Alabama.
