Taxonomy
Gyrodes (Sohlella) banites was named by Popenoe et al. (1987) [m. kosnik taxon no: 9658]. Its type specimen is UCLA 59751 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCLA Loc. 3633 - Chico Creek [Chico Fm], which is in a Santonian coastal siliciclastic in the Chico Formation of California.
