Asaphis (Heteroglypta) was named by Martens (1880) [m. kosnik taxon no: 8448].

It was reranked as Heteroglypta by Vokes (1980) and Lamprell and Healy (1998).

It was assigned to Psammobiinae by Vokes (1980); to Asaphis by Lamprell and Whitehead (1992); and to Psammobiidae by Lamprell and Healy (1998).
