Taxonomy
Yokoyamaella was named by Minato and Kato (1965) [Sepkoski's age data: P Asse P Djhu Sepkoski's reference number: 893]. Its type is Lonsdaleia yokoyamai.

It was assigned to Rugosa by Sepkoski (2002); to Kepingophyllidae by Nestell and Stevens (2013); and to Waagenophyllinae by Minato and Kato (1965), Hill (1981), Wang et al. (2006) and Wang et al. (2018).
