Taxonomy
Cercomya was named by Agassiz (1843) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn K Maes-u Sepkoski's reference number: 94,790]. It is not extant. Its type is Cercomya pinguis.

It was reranked as Anatina (Cercomya) by White (1887); it was corrected as Kercomya by Vokes (1980).

It was assigned to Anatina by White (1887); to Cercomyidae by Carter (1990); to Pholadomyoida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Laternulidae by Vokes (1980), Aberhan (2004), Scholz et al. (2008) and Ros-Franch et al. (2014).
