Taxonomy
Mitra dumosa was named by Conrad (1854) [m. kosnik taxon no: 6721]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Jackson, which is in an Eocene coastal horizon in Mississippi.

It was recombined as Mitra (Lapparia) dumosa by Conrad (1856); it was recombined as Lapparia dumosa by Harris and Palmer (1947) and Kosnik (2002).
