Lima pelagica was named by Morton (1833) [m. kosnik taxon no: 534]. It is not extant.

It was recombined as Lima (Lima) pelagica by Kosnik (2002); it was recombined as Pseudolimea pelagica by Jablonksi (2000) and Kosnik (2002).
