Pectunculus aviculoides was named by Conrad (1862) [COMMENTS: Authority date uncertain; m. kosnik taxon no: 6725.]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Limopsis aviculoides by Heilprin (1879), Harris (1919) and Kosnik (2002).
