Hexaphyllia was named by Shtukenberg (1904) [Sepkoski's age data: C Vise-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1240]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Heterophylliidae by Hill (1981); and to Heterocorallia by Sepkoski (2002).
