Taxonomy
Montacutidae was named by Clark (1855) [m. kosnik taxon no: 5175]. It is extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Lasaeidae by Parker (1982) and Coan et al. (2000).

It was assigned to Galeommatacea by Vokes (1980) and Beu et al. (1990); and to Leptonoidea by Marquet (2005) and Nevesskaja (2009).
