It was synonymized objectively with Muricoidea by Kosnik (2002).

It was assigned to Stenoglossa by Sohl (1964); to Gymnoglossa by Ward and Blackwelder (1987); to Neogastropoda by Adegoke (1977), Hickman (1980), Squires (1984) and Saul (1988); and to Caenogastropoda by Petuch (1992).
