Myopholadidae was named by Cox (1964) [m. kosnik taxon no: 5069].
It was synonymized subjectively with Ceratomyidae by Bouchet et al. (2010); it was reranked as the subfamily Myopholadinae by Carter et al. (2011).
It was assigned to Pholadomyacea by Vokes (1980); to Pleuromyoidea by Nevesskaja (2009); and to Ceratomyidae by Carter et al. (2011).
