Mesomorpha was named by Pratz (1883) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Ladi-u T Than-l Sepkoski's reference number: 796,837]. It is not extant. Its type is Porites mammillata.
It was assigned to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002); to Curtoseriidae by Baron-Szabo (2006); and to Thamnasteriidae by Roniewicz (1976), Beauvais (1986) and Löser (2010).
