Natica janthostoma was named by Deshayes (1839) [DISTRIBUTION: Middle Miocene-Recent; Japan.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Tectonatica janthostoma by Kuroda and Habe (1949); it was recombined as Natica (Tectonatica) janthostoma by Marincovich (1977); it was recombined as Cryptonatica janthostoma by Majima (1989).
