Nerita polita was named by Linnaeus (1758) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; west Pacific. COMMENTS: m. kosnik taxon no: 8829]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Nerita (Amphinerita) polita by Ladd (1966); it was recombined as Nerita (Linnerita) polita by Hendy (2007).
