Taxonomy
Ampakabastraea was named by Alloiteau (1958) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori-l J Call Sepkoski's reference number: 183,834]. It is not extant. Its type is Ampakabastraea ampakabensis.

It was assigned to Andemantastraeidae by Beauvais (1986); to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002); and to Pamiroseriidae by Roniewicz and Stanley (2013).
