Taxonomy
Ostrea vicksburgensis was named by Conrad (1848) [m. kosnik taxon no: 6783; DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; Gulf Coastal Plain.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Alectryonia vicksburgensis by Palmer and Brann (1965); it was recombined as Alectryonella vicksburgensis by May (1974); it was recombined as Lopha (Lopha) vicksburgensis by Dockery (1980) and Dockery (1982).
