Taxonomy

Ovula was named by Bruguière (1789) [m. kosnik taxon no: 7893]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Ovulidae, Ovulinae.

It was assigned to Ovulidae by Ladd (1982), Wilson (1993) and Rosenberg et al. (2006); and to Ovulinae by Landau and Fehse (2004) and Dolin and Pacaud (2009).

Synonyms

Amphiperas was named by Herrmannsen (1846) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-m Sepkoski's reference number: 530]. Its type is Bulla ovum.

It was reranked as Ovula (Amphiperas) by Martin (1899); it was synonymized subjectively with Ovula by Rosenberg et al. (2006).

It was assigned to Amphiperasidae by Gray (1847) and Gray (1847); to Ovula by Martin (1899); and to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002).
