Parilimya was named by Melvill and Standen (1899) [m. kosnik taxon no: 8737]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Pholadomyidae by Vokes (1980); and to Parilimyidae by Lamprell and Healy (1998) and Bouchet et al. (2010).
