Payraudeautia was named by Bucquoy et al. (1883) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-l R Sepkoski's reference number: 914 m. kosnik taxon no: 9821]. It is extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Natica by Kabat (1991).

It was assigned to Naticidae by Wenz (1941); to Naticinae by Pacaud and Le Renard (1995); to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Polinicinae by Huelsken et al. (2008).
