Taxonomy
Pecten argillensis was named by Conrad (1860) [m. kosnik taxon no: 6481]. It is not extant. Its type locality is USGS 5359, milepost 64, which is in a Campanian coastal sandstone in the Black Creek Formation of North Carolina.
