Archaeosmiliopsis was named by Melnikova (1975) [Sepkoski's age data: J Hett J Sine Sepkoski's reference number: 919]. It is not extant. Its type is Archaeosmiliopsis densus.
It was assigned to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002); and to Zardinophyllidae by Kiessling (2003).
