Aspidastraea was named by Kühn (1933) [Sepkoski's age data: K Sn]. It is not extant. Its type is Aspidastraea orientalis.

It was assigned to Cyclolitidae by Wells (1956); and to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002).
