Taxonomy
Astraeomorpha was named by Reuss (1854) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn-u Tr Rhae Sepkoski's reference number: 919,920]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Thamnasteriidae by Stanley (1986); to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002); and to Astraeomorphidae by Turnsek (1997), Roniewicz and Michalík (1998) and Roniewicz and Stanley (2013).
