Bantamia was named by Yabe and Eguchi (1943) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi]. It is not extant. Its type is Bantamia gerthi.

It was assigned to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002); and to Oculinidae by Baron-Szabo (2006).
