Taxonomy
Beneckastraea was named by Cuif (1976) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn Sepkoski's reference number: 919]. It is not extant. Its type is Chorisastraea beneckei.

It was assigned to Pamiroseriidae by Melnikova and Bychkov (1986); and to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002).
