Sigaretus sanctijohannis was named by Pilsbry and Lowe (1932) [m. kosnik taxon no: 10146]. Its type specimen is ANSP 155436 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Sinum sanctijohannis by Marincovich (1977).
