Cerioheterastraea was named by Cuif (1976) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn Tr Nori-l Sepkoski's reference number: 919]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002); and to Stylophyllidae by Kiessling (2008).
