Taxonomy
Ceriostella was named by Roniewicz and Stanley (1998) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Ladi-u]. It is not extant. Its type is Ceriostella variabilis.

It was assigned to Margarophylliidae by Roniewicz and Stanley (1998); to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002); and to Pamiroseriidae by Roniewicz and Stanley (2013).
