Taxonomy
Tellina virgata was named by Linnaeus (1758) [m. kosnik taxon no: 9938]. It is extant. It is the type species of Tellinella.

It was recombined as Tellinella virgata by Children (1823); it was recombined as Tellina (Tellinella) virgata by Woodring (1982).
