Triviidae was named by Troschel (1863) [m. kosnik taxon no: 7663]. It is extant. Its type is Trivia.

It was assigned to Lamellarioidea by Ponder and Warén (1988); to Mesogastropoda by Beu et al. (1990); and to Velutinoidea by Beesley (1998), Todd (2001) and Bouchet et al. (2005).
