Taxonomy
Cyathocoenia was named by Duncan (1867) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Anis-u Tr Nori Sepkoski's reference number: 869,919,920]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Astrocoeniidae by Stanley (1986); to Pinacophyllidae by Stanley and jr and Whalen (1989); and to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002).
