Eoarthropleura was named by Størmer (1976).

It was assigned to Myriapoda by Størmer (1976).

Synonyms

Tiphoscorpio was named by Kjellesvig-Waering (1986). It is the type genus of Tiphoscorpionoidea.

It was synonymized subjectively with Eoarthropleura by Selden and Shear (1992), Dunlop et al. (2013).

It was assigned to Tiphoscorpionidae by Kjellesvig-Waering (1986).
Tiphoscorpio hueberi was named by Kjellesvig-Waering (1986). Its type specimen is USNM 252629 and is a compression fossil. Its type locality is South Mountain, which is in the Frasnian of shale the Onteora red beds Formation New York.

It was considered a nomen dubium by Selden and Shear (1992), Dunlop et al. (2013).
