Taxonomy
Leonhardtina was named by Matthes (1952). It is not extant. Its type is Leonhardtina gracilis.

It was synonymized subjectively with Proviverra by Van Valen (1967).

It was assigned to Proviverrinae by Peigné et al. (2007), Solé (2013) and Solé et al. (2014); and to Hyaenodontidae by Matthes (1952) and Solé and Mennecart (2019).

Matthes 1952Paraconid not much higher than metaconid; metaconid distinct; talonids not reduced, basin-like; P not increased in size; M not tight, not P-shaped; trigonids relaive low; lower P4 with protoconid; talonids without cusps; proto- and metaconid pointed; hypoconid and entoconid not present; lower M1-3 increase to some extant in size; lower P4 without ridged talonid; lower P3 higher than lower P4; lower P2 and lower P4 equal in size.
