Digitosmilia was named by Beauvais (1972) [Sepkoski's age data: J Bath Sepkoski's reference number: 658]. It is not extant. Its type is Digitosmilia fischeri.

It was assigned to Latomeandriidae by Beauvais (1972); and to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002).
