Diplocoenia was named by Fromentel (1857) [Sepkoski's age data: J Bath K Turo Sepkoski's reference number: 819,820,1270]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Acroporidae by Roniewicz (1976); and to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002).
