Polacanthinae (disused)

Reptilia - Ankylosauridae

Taxonomy
Polacanthinae was named by Lapparent and Lavocat (1955) [Originally "polacanthinaes". Wieland 1911 is often claimed as the author of Polacanthinae, but the term is not mentioned as a "new name" in that paper. The paper does refer to another (unnamed) author's "Polacanthidae". He goes on to claim that Polacanthus belong to the Nodosauridae, which might therefore imply that there should already be a Polacanthinae.]. Its type is Polacanthus.

It was assigned to Ankylosauridae by Carpenter et al. (1996), Vickaryous and Ryan (1997), Carpenter and Kirkland (1998), Kirkland (1998), Carpenter et al. (1999) and Blows (2001); and to Nodosauridae by Pereda Suberbiola and Galton (2001) and Yang et al. (2013).
