Distichophyllia was named by Cuif (1974) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn Tr Rhae Sepkoski's reference number: 919]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Reimaniphylliinae by Roniewicz (1989); to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002); and to Distichophylliidae by Stanley (1986), Turnsek (1997) and Caruthers and Stanley (2008).
