Ebrayia was named by Ferry (1870) [Sepkoski's age data: J Tith-u Sepkoski's reference number: 832].

It was synonymized subjectively with Ovalastrea by Wells (1956).

It was assigned to Latomeandridae by Roniewicz (1970); to Microsolenina by Lathuilière (2000); and to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002).
