Cetotherium crassangulum
Taxonomy
Cetotherium crassangulum was named by Cope (1895). Its type specimen is USNM 8517, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is City Point, which is in a Pliocene shallow subtidal horizon in the Yorktown Formation of Virginia.
It was synonymized subjectively with Cetotherium leptocentrum by Cope (1896), Trouessart (1898) and Hay (1902); it was synonymized subjectively with Cyrtodelphis crassangulum by Hay (1930).
