Taxonomy
Keramidomys reductus was named by Bollinger (1992). Its type specimen is M1 inf.dext. (PIMUZ A/V 1472), paleontological institute and museum Zürich, a tooth. Its type locality is Grat-Kirchberg 935m, Sankt Gallen ("Assemblage"-Zone), which is in a MN 7 + 8 floodplain marl in Switzerland.

Th. Bollinger 1992 | Small species of Keramidomys with strong tendencies of reduction in all teeth. Lower molars lophodont, with four roots. Anterolophid and Metalophid of M1 inf. are bent to the front. Mesolophid of lower molars reduced or absent. Teeth of upper jaw with three roots, transverse ridge of P4 and M1 sup. often interrupted. On the only M2 sup. mesoloph and protoloph are absent. |
