Eohydnophora was named by Yabe and Eguchi (1936) [Sepkoski's age data: K Barr-l K Albi-l]. It is not extant. Its type is Eohydnophora tosaensis.
It was assigned to Stylinidae by Baron-Szabo (1997); to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002); to Faviidae by Morycowa and Decrouez (2006); and to Eugyridae by Löser (2010).
