Faksephyllia was named by Floris (1972) [Sepkoski's age data: T Dani Sepkoski's reference number: 841]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002) and Sepkoski (2002); and to Parasmilinae by Kiessling (2008).
