Funginellastraea was named by Alloiteau (1952) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-l Sepkoski's reference number: 796]. It is not extant.
It was synonymized subjectively with Cycloseris by Wells (1956) and Baron-Szabo (2002); it was misspelled as Funginellastrea by Sepkoski (2002) and Baron-Szabo (2009).
It was assigned to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002); and to Fungiidae by Baron-Szabo (2009).
