Grandifavia was named by Babaev (1964) [Sepkoski's age data: J u Sepkoski's reference number: 658]. It is not extant. Its type is Grandifavia bendukidzeae.

It was assigned to Faviidae by Babayev (1973); and to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002).
