Haimeicyclus was named by Alloiteau (1957) [Sepkoski's age data: J l Sepkoski's reference number: 658,ZR86]. Its type is Haimeicyclus haimei.

It was assigned to Acrosmiliidae by Beauvais (1986); to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002); to Stylophyllidae by Stolarski and Russo (2002); and to Oppelismiliidae by Roniewicz (2009).
