Taxonomy
Elaphe kohfidischi was named by Bachmayer and Szyndlar (1985). Its type specimen is NMW 1984/96 (a single mid-trunk vertebra) and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kohfidisch, which is in a MN 11 terrestrial horizon in Austria.
