Taxonomy
Coluber caspioides was named by Szyndlar and Schleich (1993). Its type specimen is BSP 1976 XXII 7096, a set of vertebrae (a single trunk vertebra), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Petersbuch 2, which is in a MN 4 fissure fill claystone in Germany.
