Palaeophis littoralis

Taxonomy
Palaeophis littoralis was named by Cope (1847) [Type "temporarily misplaced" as of Gilmore 1938]. Its type specimen is AMNH 2392, a set of vertebrae (three vertebrae), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Squankum - Shark River Marl [Nautiloida], which is in an Eocene coastal siliciclastic in the Shark River Marl Formation of New Jersey.

It was recombined as Dinophis littoralis by Marsh (1869).
