Taxonomy
Zhangheotherium was named by Hu et al. (1997). It is not extant. Its type is Zhangheotherium quinquecuspidens.
It was assigned to Mammalia by Luo et al. (2001); to Spalacotherioidea by Averianov (2002) and Li and Luo (2006); to Spalacotheriidae by Hu et al. (1997), Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004) and Zhou and Wang (2010); to Zhangheotheriidae by Han and Meng (2016); and to Mammalia by Velazco et al. (2022).
It was assigned to Mammalia by Luo et al. (2001); to Spalacotherioidea by Averianov (2002) and Li and Luo (2006); to Spalacotheriidae by Hu et al. (1997), Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004) and Zhou and Wang (2010); to Zhangheotheriidae by Han and Meng (2016); and to Mammalia by Velazco et al. (2022).
